It's national Poetry Month Again

It's National Poetry Month Again!

Last year at this time There was a contest.

Best original poem by an StlBlogger

Best "favorite poem"

I was the proud winner of the latter.  I never did collect on my prize -- a mayo packet if I remember correctly.  That's alright, I don't use mayo.

I am volunteering to judge this year's contest, which of course means I can't win.

My qualifications: an open mic poet for 12 years, four published chapbooks, editor of a literary ezine, and a few other credits.  If that really matters to anyone.

Same general rules as last year.  Create an entry on your blog with an entry in either half of the contest.  (An Original Poem, or your Favorite Poem)

Link to that entry in the comment section below.

Deadline: April 30th, Midnight.

Prize:  1 hot sauce packet.

(It's possible it will be old enough to say Naugles, but more likely it will say Del Taco on it.)

Any questions, just ask.

Can I resubmit my entry from last year?????
Submitted by rtb at 4/7/2005 4:52:20 PM
I suck at poetry, but if you had a sauce packet that said Zantigos, I'd be entering like crazy.
Submitted by John at 4/7/2005 6:21:10 PM
Previous submissions are allowed, but realize we do have a different judge this year, and poetry is very subjective. What last years' judge liked might not be judged as highly by this years' judge. [In fact, this years' judge actually disagreed with last years' judge on all counts.] There are no Naugles' packets. The winners will get to choose one packet from four choices: Taco Bell Hot, Taco Bell Mild, Del Taco Beyond Hot, or Del Taco Mild. I can not guarantee freshness, and if anyone actually tries to use the sauce, they do so at their own risk.

Did someone say Zantigos??? That takes me back.

Trying again...can't use numbers in orphan titles, I guess... my entry.

My entry for the originals category: Celebration I don't want some old mayo packet but it doesn't take a prize to get me to enter. :)

This is purely coincidental that I posted a poem today on my blog that a good friend of mine wrote, and then find this entry on STL bloggers... So I guess this means I'm in it for the "favorite poem contest".... (I wish a packet of salt was the winning prize but I'd be happy with whatever...) My entry is here: dotdotdot.stlbloggers.com

I wonder if your friend is related to Edna... Here's a direct link to the poem you submitted. (So it's easier for me to find at the end of the month when I'm trying to judge)

Our Favorite Poem (it's not a link to our blog...but we didn't want to copy the poem onto our blog since we don't have permission from the author.)

John - I still have the old mayo packets. I don't think you ever sent me a mailing address. Actually I don't think anyone sent me their mailing address. ...and like you said, poetry is subjective, so I would hope that you would have different choices than I did.

I wasn't laying blame on anyone but myself for not collecting the prize. I believe I didn't send you my address, as I had no overwhelming interest in the packet. But I enjoyed the honor of winning.
Submitted by John/Gavroche at 4/11/2005 12:29:03 PM
The way I phrased it in the comments last year was a whole lot better.
Submitted by Jim H at 4/11/2005 12:33:32 PM
but I still have the circa 2003 mayo packets in a box in my desk if any of last years winners are interested. Although I'm still not certain about the legality of mailing them -- that whole biological hazard thing.

I heartily agree to Dr. No
If you are looking for a medic with ethics, stay away from Mrs. Geismann!!!! She would always try to pull the patients and prolong treatments. Her husband is an attorney - hence comes the litigation part.

I can't figure out how to get a new post started...I'm getting an error message.

So I'll just put it here.

For those of you that have previously visited my old website, St. Louis Real Estate Insights at RealEstateInfoSTL.com, I hope you will come check out my new site at www.ArchCityHomes.com.

I set up the pinging about a week ago even though the site was locked down, so that's why the links didn't work from the ping list. Everything should work fine now.

I've got a bunch of market report pages (a few still need to be uploaded and will be up within a few days). I'd love it if you will take a minute to check it out and give me your feedback. Happy Thanksgiving!

Browne doesn't need to lease the space --the city paid for it, and he's just sitting pretty on a multi-million gold mine. Things will change, though, when SteinMart goes bankrupt. I imagine they'll file sometime after the holidays...
Show Me the Money
Rock Hill City Hall (Mayor, City Administrator, All the Aldermen, and Alderwomen) reminds me of "The Beverly Hillbillies" I'm not going to name, names, but I swear a couple of them have seen, Johnny Walker and Jim Bean, a few too many times. One of them looks like they just crawled out of the bottle. They can't seem to find occupants for "Market at Mcknight", however they state they are pushing forward with phase II....another Target!!!! I hear they (Novus) are wanting to much money per square foot, to lease those empty buildings. City Hall needs to go back behind closed doors, for their sessions, and stay there!

Karen, Use the first URL that Ben posted. That's the one I use and it's always worked for my sites.
Karen Goodman
Ok, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with these. Which URL do I paste into the pinging section of my blog?

And, I cleared my cookies and now can't logon. Can you send me my login info. My website is St. Louis Real Estate Insights and I've included my email address.

Thanks for that Kathy. The pinger is back online now. Everything has finally been moved to a more permanent server which will get plenty of attention when it goes down. I can start fixing these bugs -- stllboggers cookies, twitter bot, etc -- with the knowledge that any work I do won't be lost.

I'm sure you're aware that pinging hasn't worked for the last 24 hours!
kperfetto
I can log in, but not ping. I've always pinged (pung) manually. Does the automated pinger work with Blogger, too?

Love the new commenting system, though.

I'm also having a pinging issue -- when I ping (and I use firefox) I have to log in, ping, go to the main page, log in again, and ping again.

Stlbloggers is living on a temporary server which isn't honoring cookies for more than half an hour.

I'll kick it this weekend.

market at mcknight is mostly empty. don't imagine that's going to change anytime soon with the current economy. they should have left the neighborhood there.

Before the outage, I never had to re-login from the computers I use most often. I don't think I entered a password for months. Now I have to login everytime before I can ping. Maybe its a different symptom of the same issue?

Ever since that "mostly dead" incident, I have to log out then log back in every time I want to ping. Is this happening to anyone else, or just me?
